Barbara’s background is linked to art and the plant world.  A former instructor at Common Ground, she has presented week long classes on Botanic Drawing, Herb Gardening and A Painting a Day.  Her background includes a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute, College of Art.  She and her husband Roger operated Alloway Creek Gardens for 38 years until it closed in 2014.

She now writes and illustrates occasionally for The Essential Herbal, a national herb magazine, www.essentialherbal.com, still enjoys gardening and she just finished historic research on her home and area.
