Phil Grout is an award-winning photojournalist and fine art photographer working since 1966 in the US, Africa, Asia, and Central America gathering images for newspapers, magazines, wire services, book publishers and art galleries, his work has been recognized by The Associated Press, Publishers Weekly, New York Times, Maryland Delaware, DC Press Association and various arts organizations.

Selected work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in art galleries throughout the us. He is the author of several book length photo essays including “A Spell in Plains” which Publishers Weekly called : A Triumph”. The New York Times cited Grout’s “ fine camerawork of a way of life few have captured with such simple fidelity.”Phil Grout was awarded The Common Ground On The Hill Visual Arts Award of Excellence in The Traditional Arts  July 2023.
