Bio

Rod MacDonald was a 20-year headliner in Greenwich Village clubs and concerts, with 21 songs in the Smithsonian collection of American Music, and is a co-founder of the Greenwich Village Folk Festival. His 14 albums include 2023’s “Rants And Romance,” which made the national Folk DJ top ten; and his songs, such as “American Jerusalem”, “A Sailor’s Prayer” “White Buffalo” and “Every Living Thing,” have been recorded by Shawn Colvin, Dave Van Ronk, Jonathan Edwards, Garnet Rogers, Four Bitchin’ Babes, Joe Jencks, and many other artists. Rod began “Songwriting for Self-Expression” at the NY Open Center and Common Ground on The Hill, and since 2006, has been “Music Americana” instructor in Florida Atlantic University’s Osher/LLS program, where he was named Distinguished Faculty Member in 2012.
