Rod MacDonald was a 20-year headliner in Greenwich Village clubs and concerts, with 21 songs in the Smithsonian collection of American Music and is a co-founder of the Greenwich Village Folk Festival. His 12 CDs include such songs as “American Jerusalem”, “A Sailor’s Prayer” “White Buffalo” and “Every Living Thing,” recorded by Shawn Colvin, Dave Van Ronk, Jonathan Edwards, Garnet Rogers, Four Bitchin’ Babes, Joe Jencks, and other artists. Living in south Florida since 1995, he was named one of “Ten Greatest South Florida Folksingers of All Time” by New Times. As a teacher, he began “Songwriting for Self-Expression” at the NY Open Center and Common Ground on The Hill, and since 2006, has been “Music Americana” instructor in Florida Atlantic University’s Osher/LLS program, where he was named Distinguished Faculty Member in 2012.
