Weave a rib basket and rib wreath using a variety of natural materials and reed. Traditional basket techniques for weaving a god’s eye, inserting ribs and shaping will be taught. Students are encouraged to personalize their basket and wreath with colored reed and patterns of their choice. Dyed reed, seagrass, and other fibers may be woven into the baskets. Each basket and wreath will be unique and individualized. Weavers of all ability levels are welcome! Previous basket weaving experience is not required. Returning students can tackle more complex patterns in their weaving.

Class limit: 12 students, ages 16 and up

Materials fee: $40 includes armatures, reed and a variety of weaving materials

Students should bring:

• a tub for water
• a hand towel
• scissors or reed clippers
• any other standard basket making supplies that they already have
