Use hand tools to blacksmith the hardware and build a Revolving Bookcase from white pine wood.
Students who register for this five period class will use hand tools to blacksmith the hardware and build a Revolving Bookcase from white pine wood. Held outside in The Grove Studio, students will spend the first two periods each day at the forge with Shel Browder and Steve Mankowski blacksmithing the hardware, etc. for the revolving bookcase. After lunch, during periods 3, 4, and 5 they will work with Ken Koons using woodworking tools: handsaws, planes, and chisels, etc. to make a revolving bookcase with the goal of completing the bookcase by the end of the week. Proper use of hand tools, safety, and how to maintain tools will be shared.
NOTE: Closed toe shoes required. NO synthetic clothing should be worn.
Limit: 6 students, ages 18 and up
Materials Fee: $50 includes wood, iron, coal usage
