Sometimes we encounter a poem that takes our breath away. Poet Robert Bly proposed that such works contain one or more artistic leaps that invite the reader into the poem. With Bly’s insights as a starting place, we’ll read a number of poems together, considering what makes them work. Then we’ll try these techniques in our own work.
