James has painted realistically for a very long time, but his interests have led him toward abstraction. In this class, he covers the basics: perspective, color, tone, and composition, all from his long experience as a painter. Students are free to work realistically if they choose, or they can try total or semi-abstraction. James believes that the most interesting abstraction always refers to reality in some way. He will introduce tools to add to the variety of marks and brushstrokes that can be incorporated, and he will demonstrate their use as he paints along with the students. This class will be inspiring, fun and liberating!

NOTE: If students have sets of acrylics brushes etc. bring those. If students are buying new supplies these are recommended and can be found at Jerrys Artarama (jerrysartarama.com).
