Cooking over fire
Discover the art of cooking with fire. Students will be involved in every step from starting the fire, preparing foodstuffs and cooking many types of food in Dutch ovens, on gridirons, and sometimes with novel methods. The last step, eating what was prepared, requires no instructions, though students are often surprised at the superior taste and quality of food cooked with old methods. There is pleasure and joy and humor in communal preparation and consumption of food. As we can, we will bring guest instructors. We may take the leap into cake baking!
Class limit: 12 students, ages 16 and up
Materials fee: $60 for food and supplies
