Learn the confrontational but nonviolent strategy that Martin Luther King Jr. used to build a broad-based movement for justice and freedom.
Is it just letting things happen, maybe? Is it only protesting and demonstrating? Is it just for cowards? Is it just wishful thinking? Or is it a nefarious scheme whose hidden motives are perpetrated by outside agitators? Nonviolence has been called all these things, but guess what? It’s none of them. In this course we’ll look at how Martin Luther King Jr. used a confrontational but nonviolent strategy to build a broad-based movement for justice and freedom. We will look at a modern nonviolence education approach that includes King’s principles of nonviolence, and mix in some music & art, some psychology, some contemporary real-world applications, and some surprises.
