This class is for total beginners. Learn the basics of how to play the harp, including helpful techniques that will keep you from hurting or injuring yourself while playing and transporting the harp. This class is for harps of all sizes that have levers (not pedals.). Learn basic technique, posture and how to learn music on the harp. We’ll learn several tunes across the week. If you already have a harp and play, you are welcome to come, but we will be starting at the very beginning with the basics and progress will be slow.

We will discuss how to buy a harp, determine what harp might be best for you, how to look for harps to buy, and how to take care of your harp. A few harps will be available for rent at a small fee -- for $25 or a bit more, depending on where they are sourced and availability. If you have a harp with no levers please tell me if you are bringing one without levers in advance so I can plan appropriately for the class. All sizes of folk harps with levers or with no pedals are welcome in this class.
