This course will focus on the music of County Kerry, in the Southwest of Ireland. Best known for its polkas and slides, as well as a wealth of great jigs, reels and hornpipes. We will explore this rich tradition with tunes taken from the repertoire of legendary fiddlers such as Padraig O’Keeffe, Denis Murphy, Julia Clifford, and Paddy Cronin. Sheet music and recordings will be made available before the start of class. Students are encouraged to bring a recording device with them.  This course is open to players of other melody instruments. For advanced beginners on up.
