Learn how to spin wool into yarn that is suitable for knitting, crocheting or weaving. The class will include the process of starting with a raw fleece, washing, carding and spinning the wool fibers. Students will first use a drop spindle and then one progress to one of the instructor’s spinning wheels. Finished yarn will be dyed.

Limit: 8 students, ages 16 and up

Materials Fee: $45 includes Wool Roving and Drop Spindle (deduct $25 if using own drop spindle). Students bringing their own working spinning wheel and/or drop spindle, should have instructor evaluate whether it is in good condition to use at the start of the workshop.

Student should bring:

  • Two 1-pound clear washed deli containers with lids that can have a hole punched in it
  • One small box, similar to a shoe box.
