Students will learn the fundamental components that make up Dine (Navajo) style weaving. This will include learning to familiarize themselves with the tools and mechanics of weaving, as well as the history and People from which the craft comes. Students will be able to learn an assortment of different techniques and some of the symbology that is heavily affiliated with the medium.

Class limit: 8 students, age 10 and up

Students may choose between two materials packages:

  • Materials fee of $50 includes warp, cotton twine, cordage, yarn samples. Students will need to provide their own loom, weaving combs, batten and finishing needles. Contact instructor to confirm that your loom meets requirements: ttapahaweavings@gmail.com.
  • Materials fee of $100 includes wooden loom frame, warp, cotton twine, cordage, dowels, yarn samples, weaving combs, batten, finishing needles.

Student should bring a pair of scissors, a ruler and masking tape.
