The music termed “Celtic” is typically thought of as being Irish and Scottish. However, the music of Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Brittany, Galician traditional music (Spain) and Portugal are also considered Celtic music. This class will introduce you to a selection of Celtic tunes from off the beaten path, exploring tunes from some of these other Celtic traditions. Sheet music and recordings will be made available before the start of class. Students are encouraged to bring a recording device with them to class.
