I wish I hadn’t stopped taking piano lessons when I was a kid! I’m too old to learn how to play the piano now!  Serenity Fisher has heard this phrase more times than she can count. There is a sense that the piano is an unapproachable instrument, yet there is also a longing to play. This course lifts the veil of mystery surrounding the piano by offering simple yet effective ways the piano can be used in folk music. You will learn to play chords, to “strum” along to your favorite songs, just like a folk guitarist does. You will learn that playing chords on the piano is even easier than on the guitar. Piano is the instrument that keeps on giving. With its straightforward layout of the notes, it doesn’t take long to learn how to develop simple chordal accompaniment that will make you sound like you’ve been playing the piano for years. With these easily attainable skills you will learn to play and sing your favorite songs, accompany a singer, or join in a jam! Serenity has been teaching piano and songwriting for nearly two decades. She enjoys unlocking the mystery of folk piano for her students, sparking their creativity and joy of playing music. This course does not require note reading. All experience levels except true beginners are welcome.
