Max. 10 students, ages 12 and up with registering older family member.

The Ice Man, named Otzi due to the mountains where he was found, was able to collect from nature all the things he needed to build a lethal arrow. We will use things from nature to build a replica of Otzi’s arrow. There are approximately 13 steps to produce a lethal arrow. We will proceed through those steps to produce an authentic hunting arrow that Otzi would have used.

The Ice Man was shot in the back by an unknown assailant. That shot and freezing conditions caused his death. He was discovered in 1991 by a hiking couple since the area had begun to thaw. Since then, scientists have discovered much about life in the late Stone Age. Join this class to enjoy a treasure-trove of stories related to this exciting adventure and surviving with Primitive Skills.

Materials fee: $20 includes natural collected and made ingredients like arrow wood, flint, stone,  feathers, sinew, thread, cordage, birch tar.

Students should bring a fixed blade knife.
