Bio

Folksinger and multi-instrumentalist Katherine Rhoda hails from rural Maine, where she grew up steeped in community and church music. After a stint at Oberlin College, where she was active in the student folk music club, she got her first ukelin in the late 1970's, soon followed by her first Marxophone, a gift from a flea market dealer. Enraptured by the potential of these and other vintage fretless zithers, a family of instruments which includes the autoharp, she has been collecting, researching, and playing them ever since.
