Bodhran Construction
Learn how to make the frame, apply the drum skin to the shell, decorate, and tune your very own Bodhran. A unique chance to build and learn to play this wonderful Celtic instrument. Shekere: Makin’ & Shakin’ the Calabash
The shekere is a handmade percussive instrument with origins in West Africa, but the shekere is found today in the Americas and the Caribbean as well. It is fabricated from a hollow calabash gourd. The calabash is covered with an intricate netting of beadwork that is applied macramé style that is visually pleasing while paying attention to the desired sound.
