Acclaimed mandolinist Barry Mitterhoff introduces you to classic Tex Logan tunes including Diamond Joe, Christmas Time's a-Comin' and many more.
Benjamin Logan was a brilliant mathematician and electrical engineer at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey. On nights and weekends, he donned a 10-gallon hat and took to the stage as a pre-eminent bluegrass fiddler. Billed as Tex Logan, he was a deft and hare-swift fiddler, one of the very best of all time. He often played with Bill Monroe, universally acknowledged as the father of bluegrass. He also performed with the singer and music historian Mike Seeger and with Jerry Garcia (better known for playing guitar and singing with the Grateful Dead).
Mandolinist Barry Mitterhoff of Bottle Hill, Tony Trischka & Skyline, Hot Tuna and his own Silk City Quartet, played with Tex perhaps more than anyone else throughout the years. Take this opportunity to learn Tex’s music including classics such as Diamond Joe, Christmas Time’s a-Comin', Come Along Jody, Kill the Shaghai Rooster and many more.
If you ever wanted to connect with the true vine, this is your opportunity.
