For decades, Sparky and Rhonda Rucker have taught young people about history and social justice. In this class, they will demonstrate how they use song and story as jumping-off points for real-world conversations with students of all ages. Whether you are a teacher or parent, you’ll receive a host of helpful tips and resources to use in discussing bias, diversity, prejudice, and discrimination. Rhonda is a children’s author, creating page-turners that also evoke difficult questions about America’s struggle for justice. A former school teacher, Sparky has given teacher workshops at the Kennedy Center, the D. C. Teacher Center, the International Children’s Festival, and the Southeast Institute for Education in Music.
