Learn several common beadwork stitches including peyote, brick, square stitch and right angle weave.
The workshop will provide an introduction to several common beadwork stitches including peyote, brick (also known as Comanche), square stitch, and right angle weave. Once a basic familiarity with each stitch is accomplished, emphasis will be on comparing the ways in which these stitches can be used, advantages and disadvantages of each stitch, and how patterns are affected by the chosen stitch. Examples of finished items in each stitch will be available for inspection. The instructor will contrast and compare the uses of each stitch and how they are best used. Students will create samples using each stitch. See images: Peyote stitch (green), brick stitch (blue), square stitch (red) and right angle weave (multicolor).
