Immerse yourself in the process of Diné (Navajo) style weaving, sheep to loom. Students will learn to process and familiarize themselves with spinning yarn on a lap spindle using Navajo Churro wool. The next portion of this course is centered around the vegetal dyes used to bring color to Navajo weavings. Students will later be able to incorporate their own handspun hand-dyed yarn into their weavings. Lastly, students will learn how to set up and weave on a Navajo style loom.

Class limit: 15 students, age 13 and up

Materials fee of $75 includes wood loom, warp, cotton twine, cordage, dowels, yarn samples, weaving combs, batten, finishing needles, Navajo lap spindle. Extra wool and yarn available from the instructor for an additional fee.

Student should bring a pair of scissors, a ruler and electrical tape.
