Go beyond simple snapshots to create compelling photographs that tell a story, be it a portrait or a landscape. Bring your camera and explore various aspects of visually conveying an idea, including creative use of aperture, shutter speed, posing, composition, etc. Photographers of all backgrounds are welcome in this class! Most of the skills taught in this class are geared towards DSLR users although some material can be tailored to phone users. This class focuses on how to utilize your camera’s capabilities to capture your vision. Before you begin this class, it’s best to be familiar with how your camera works. Photo editing is not the primary focus of this class but if there is interest, time permitting, we may set aside some time to talk about it.

Limit 5 students. Ages 15 and up.

Materials Student Should Have:

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera
  • lenses
  • manual
  • tripod
  • notebook
  • pen
  • a computer or a laptop
  • SD card reader.

NOTE: The class is geared primarily to DSLR users. Some parts of the curriculum can be adapted for cell phone users.
