Learn the "Three Ps" of percussion (Pitch, Placement and Phrasing), moving from vocal percussion to body percussion and on to instrumental percussion.
African and Post-African music, in contrast to the “subdividing” way European and Asian music is organized, is a compounding system that meshes like gears transferring power. Each “free-standing” part interacts with others to create a “macro-rhythm”, a funky, flowing expression of all those participating, greater than the sum of its parts. We’ll use the Majic Pyramid©’s “Three Ps” (Pitch, Placement, and Phrasing) to mesh simple musical phrases into rockin’ beats! Starting with Vocal Percussion, we move to Body Percussion, before applying what we know to instruments, and discovering our new-found knowledge already in place in music we know and love.
