Photographer John Kurc joins Randy Mayer of Good Shepherd UCC and Shura Wallin of the Green Valley Samaritans to reveal the beauties and tragedies of the borderlands.
When wedding and concert photographer John Kurc discovered the devastation at the US/Mexico border caused by the building of the border wall, he began to document using film and video footage. Beyond the pulverized desert landscape and horrific impact on wildlife migration, John also found a web of international crimes, illegal mishandling of billions of taxpayer dollars, families being separated across the border, and inhumane treatment of immigrants. Randy Mayer has been on the front lines of the crisis at the border, lifting up the plight of the migrant and illuminating the deep instinct for survival and love of family. Their work with the humanitarian group Green Valley Samaritans has provided assistance to those whose lives are on the line. Together, John and Randy will describe and lay out the rich culture and climate of the borderlands, while illuminating the tragic toll on human life.
