No matter what kind of fretted string instrument you have, this course will help you understand how it all fits together.
Does the fingerboard of the guitar seem like a wilderness with no landmarks? Does any knowledge you might have of chords, and even scales in 1st position seem to disappear when you venture up the fingerboard? With just a "dab" of music theory (you need to be able to count up to '8', but no lab coat required), we'll "map out" the entire fingerboard of the guitar, with chords and scales, and explain how it all fits together, on both the fingerboard and in your ear. No terrifying "little black specks", but lots of diagrams. The course will focus primarily on the guitar fingerboard in standard tuning, but we could also look at altered and open tunings. Depending on time and the class's interest we could also look at banjo, mandolin and bass guitar. NOTE: This approach works for any fretted string instrument.
