This class will be a mix of levels for those new to clogging/flat-foot and those with some knowledge of basic steps. Linda Block of the Green Grass Cloggers will introduce you to this exciting world of dance and rhythm!
Clogging and flat footing are very similar, the difference being the intent and the intensity. This class will be a mix of levels for those new to clogging/flat-foot and those with some knowledge of basic steps. We will review/teach basic clogging and flatfoot steps and show variations for those ready for more challenge, to challenge those who learn quickly while not leaving anyone behind. Learn some step sequences and also start to create your own rhythms. Think of flat footing as dancing just for yourself on a wooden porch or at a community dance as percussion to the music; think of clogging as dancing on a stage for an audience in choreographed routines. The goal is for you to learn enough to be able to improvise to old-time music. Students should wear comfortable, loose clothes and be prepared to sweat! Leather-bottomed lace-up shoes with a broad heel are preferred. Students should have a wooden floor large enough to move easily, located for maximum visibility of the computer screen.
For ages 10 and above.
