Six master musicians and instructors will demonstrate and discuss their life's work. Bring your voice and instrument - there will be singing and playing!
This telling and performing workshop is a rare opportunity for students to learn about the life-long work of their master instructors. In this gathering every day at 1:00 PM, a different instructor will hold forth about their lifelong pursuit of the muse. Bring your voice and instrument, as well as your curiosity about these artists. There will be singing and playing!
Randy Barrett of Bluegrasscountry.org and the DCBU will lead the class while sharing his new book about legendary banjoist Ben Eldridge. Mandolinist Barry Mitterhoff will dive deep into the music of his mentor, fiddler Tex Logan. Musician and producer Tom Mintde will share his vast knowledge of the historic Washington and Baltimore bluegrass scene. John Haywood will bring true-roots eastern Kentucky old-time banjo styles and songs to life. Multi-instrumentalist Bryan McDowell will treat us to fiddle, guitar and mandolin tunes that have won him national titles in all three instruments. Guitarist Harry Orlove will share his journey through newgrass in the 1970’s, over thirty years of studio and club-work in LA and his recent return to his east coast roots.
Schedule a week or two, or three! Or, just sprinkle some classes in between other commitments.
