Learn the basic skills necessary to become a competent home cook, making delicious dishes along the way.
Cooking is built on many basic principles and skills. Learning these is the first step to making a huge range of food and meals. This class will teach these principles and skills to start the beginner cook along these paths. A variety of different dishes will be made, which will demonstrate these principles. Students will practice skills by actively engaging in the food preparation. The class will prepare (and eat!) a wide range of dishes, such as breakfasts, casseroles, side dishes, cakes, and cookies.
Different techniques, such as varying spices and ingredients, will be examined as a way to expand the cooking repertoire and to make a meal better suited to one's own tastes. Kitchen safety will be taught and is an essential part of this course.
There will be a materials fee of approximately $40-50.

Limit 10 students, ages 16 and up.
