Oldtime Black & White Fiddle: Did you ever stop to wonder why Scottish & Irish fiddling didn't remain the same when it crossed the Atlantic and then lived for over two centuries in the hollers of the southern Appalachians? How is it that an Irish reel changed so much after living in the mountains for so long? Throughout the history of oldtime music in the U.S., Black Americans have made great contributions to its very existence. Many of these contributions have not been mentioned, nor have the creators received due consideration. This workshop, led by veteran fiddler and clog dancer Earl White, will teach participants to play some of the well-known oldtime fiddle tunes that were created by African Americans, as well as some great tunes from other classic oldtime fiddlers, many of whom Earl learned from on his many sojourns in the mountains. Don't miss this chance to inform your playing.
Period 1 Earl White & Adrienne Davis
